Re 1 - isn't it funny that many on the Left these days tend to have a faith in the State that no self-respecting Marxist should buy into: that the State is genuinely working for the good, and not in the interests of some dominant class (i.e., the middle middle and upper middle classes)?

1. I'm not a Marxist, so maybe it isn't that funny.

2. I wouldn't call it "faith" in the State, since I'm only too aware of how the State can fuck things up. But that doesn't mean it always does, or that all states are and must be the same - they obviously aren't.
